Elevation: 2,228 meters (7,310 feet)
Mount Kosciuszko is located in Kosciuszko National Park in New South Wales, Australia (the southeastern tip of the country). It is named after a Polish national hero because the mountain is said to resemble a similar mound in Krakow, Poland. There are several other peaks in Australian held lands that are slightly taller than Mount Kosciuszko, but it is the tallest point of elevation on the continent proper.
