London, UK
Since 2000, this museum has housed Britain’s international modern art collection in a converted power station, a heritage that is apparent in the 35-meter by 152-meter turbine hall that functions as a grand entrance and display for large sculptures. While its specialty is post-1980 modern art, Tate Modern’s collection includes every major contemporary movement from Fauvism onwards. Collectively, Tate Modern and the three other Tate galleries- Tate Britain, Tate Liverpool and Tate St. Ives- hold collections of British art from the 1500 and Britain’s international modern art collection.
