Kazakh Circus
Address: 50 Abai Avenue, corner of Musrepov Boulevard, Abay Avenue, Almaty
Timings: open all year round 10 am to 8 pm
Inaugurated in 1972, this place has continued to entertain kids and adults, locals and tourists alike. The impressive architecture of the place is reminiscent of a traditional yurt.
Shows range from animal performances to daredevil acts that will make your heart leap. Most of the circus acts are rooted in Kazakh tradition rather than just being typical shows. For example, you get a chance to see the Kazakh horse dance “Horse-herds-jigits”.
There are also other fun-filled activities like a shooting range, beautiful tree-lined walkways, and horse and camel rides – the trainers can teach you a few pretty cool tricks if you bestow on them a generous tip.
Needless to say, this place is a must-visit for a peek into the quintessential Kazakh taste of live entertainment.
