Do not walk alone late at night. Take care of your belongings; Athens like most major metropolises is plagued with pickpockets especially at the Metro stations and on the metro. Be especially careful while crossing roads; Athenians are reckless drivers and stop for no one.

Athenians are known to be politically astute. Demonstrations and riots are common in Athens; the Athenians are extremely vocal about anything and everything they don’t agree with. Steer clear of these as the police are often called in to break these up.
