Children’s Science Museum-Planet Discovery
Planet Discovery is a children’s science museum in Beirut Souks in the heart of Beirut. Children of all ages can discover the secrets of life and the surrounding world. The exhibits stimulate their curiosity and desire for learning. The museum holds interactive experiments, exhibitions, performances and workshops, and awareness competitions. It welcomes handicapped and visually impaired children too.
Planet Discovery is the only permanent children’s science museum in Lebanon. Founded in 1999 by Solidere in collaboration with La Villette & Palais de la Decouverte in Paris it offers hands-on learning experiences and welcomes visits by school and community groups as well as family visits.
In line with international standards of safety and security, Planet Discovery is equipped to welcome disabled and visually impaired visitors.
The exhibits are available in 4 languages: Arabic, French, English and Braille. Children here are surrounded by adults, a team of activity leaders who guide them and answer all their queries. There are 6 sessions per day, each of one and a half hour duration. The number of visitors is limited to 120 per session allowing every child ample time to see, explore and learn.
