Ulu Temburong National Park
Occupying 40% of land area, this park is truly a sight to behold. Flora and fauna is rich here and the park can be navigated by walking trails, some of which take you to the Sungai Apan waterfall. If you’re feeling adventurous, tackle the rugged two-day walk to Bukit Belalong. The high canopy walkway through the park is one of the longest in the world.
A permit is required to visit the reserve so if you want to visit solo you’ll need to contact the Forestry Department (BSB 238 1687; Bangar 522 1839) to inquire about individual and overnight permits. It is a process that can take several days. Since travel within the park also requires hiring a boat (B$150), it’s often easier to go on a tour. Most tours embark at the Outward Bound centre on Sungai Temburong, which offers a variety of outdoor adventure programs and activities for groups and individuals.
