General Visa Information
A valid passport is required by foreign nationals in order to enter Cape Town. The passport must be valid for the following six months at least and must contain a minimum of two blank pages. The visa required is a tourist visa [which may be single, double or mutliple entry]. The period for which the visa is valid is stamped on the passport.
It is necessary to know when, where and for how long you will be staying. Confirmed accommodations and transit information is required for the tourist visa. Intended tourists must also prove that they have sufficient funds to cover their stay.
Nationals of more than eighty countries including the U.S., Japan and EU countries do not need a visa to stay in Cape Town. For others, visas can be acquired from the nearest South African embassy or consulate.
UAE Specific
Holders of a valid UAE passport can enter Cape Town with a tourist visa. UAE Nationals must apply for this visa via the South African embassy or consulate. Documents required include a completed visa application form, a valid passport [valid for 30 days at least after the expiry of the intended visit], a copy of the passport, 2 passport sized photographs, evidence of a return flight booking, a vaccination certificate, bank statements, statement of purpose of visit, a provisional hotel booking or an invitation letter from the South African host or company where the visit is for business purposes. The application fee is 250 Dirham and it takes four days for the application to be processed.
