Health and Safety in Doha
For those travelling in Doha there are some points worth remembering. Whilst Doha is one of the safest cities in the world it is always advised to remain vigilant. Avoid dark places, especially deserted places at night. If it is necessary to walk at night be sure to walk in big groups.
Watch out when crossing roads as people drive recklessly on the streets of Doha. For tourists who will be driving themselves wear your seat belts at all times since the Qatari police are extremely strict when it comes to punishing those violating traffic rules and regulations. For tourists using taxis, make sure that it is a metered taxi or agree on rates before hand to avoid an argument later on.
Women should dress modestly and couples should observe the norms that operate within Islamic countries.
Travelers should make sure that they have health insurance before travelling to Doha. Medical services are of excellent quality, however, very expensive at the same time. Because temperatures in Doha are known to soar especially in the summer months travelers should drink plenty of fluids and wear a cap/ hat to avoid getting a heat stroke.
