Burj Khalifa
The Burj Kalifa is the tallest manmade structure on Earth, and is a must see for anyone visiting Dubai. Quite literally – it’s hard to miss. The $1.5 billion tower, part of the larger $20 billion Downtown Dubai Project, was completed in December 2009 after six years of construction. It stands an astounding 828m tall, more than 200m taller than its closest rival, with 163 habitable floors (206 including maintenance). This building features some of Dubai’s nicest offices and apartments, some of which were decorated by Armani.
The Burj Kalifa stands so tall over Dubai’s skyline that it’s impossible to comprehend from ground-level. The best way to visit is to head to the top. The At the Top observation deck is 452m up on the 124th floor, the highest outdoor observation deck in the world. In addition to stunning views, there is a lot of interesting information about Dubai and the tower’s construction. Monitors are also available which show the view at different times of day, as well as the past, present, and future of Dubai.
You’ll definitely want to book ahead of time, as those tickets are much cheaper. The sixty second elevator ride is accessed through the Dubai Mall.
