The Dubai Metro is the world’s largest fully-automated metro system. It launched in September 2009 and is packed during rush hour and the weekends. There are 47 stations, 10 underground, across two lines. The Red Line parallels Sheikh Zayed Road from the airport to Jebel Ali. The rechargeable Nol Card is an integrated card system which enables commuters to travel by train, bus, or boat. One-way and round-trip tickets are also available. There are separate cars available for women and children as well.
The metro is operational from 06:00-23:00 from Saturday-Wednesday, from 06:00-24:00 on Thursdays, and from 13:00-24:00 on Fridays.
