The mall gets its name from its shape, which is a square, and its location which is at the junction of Belgard Road. Opened in 1990, it was the first shopping mall of its kind in the area. It is easily accessible from all sides of the city, and still remains popular among locals and patrons despite competition from newer and more modern shopping malls. There is also a multiplex cinema on the third floor of the building which gets crowded during weekends. Some of the stores include Adams, Clark’s, Sweet Factory, New Look and Tesco.
