Bockenheim Watch Tower
Standing in stark contrast to the modern post-war city is this watch tower, one of the last few remains of the fortified city that existed for many centuries in place of Frankfurt. This 54m circular tower was built in 1434-1435 and used to watch over the city in times of war. Now it gives visitors an up close view of a tower that looks like it could have come straight out of a fairytale. Once a week there is a market at the tower’s base.
