Visa Information
People travelling to Switzerland must have a valid passport.
Visa are required for a continuous stay of more than three months.
If your stay is shorter than three months you only need to bring your valid passport with you. This applies to citizens of the following countries: countries of the American Continent (except Belize, Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Peru), Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
A Visa is not required if you belong to the following countries/regions, for staying in Switzerland for a duration of up to 90 days:
(a) EU countries, Australia, Canada, Japan and US;
(b) countries in South and Central America (except Belize, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru);
(c) Caribbean island states (except Cuba, Dominican Republic and Haiti);
(d) Andorra, Brunei, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Fiji, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Kiribati, Korea (Rep. Of), Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, San Marino, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Tuvalu and Vatican City;
(e) Bosnia-Herzegovina, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Turkey and Serbia & Montenegro provided they are resident in Canada, Iceland, Norway, USA or EU countries.

Applying for a Visa:
-Please apply at the Embassy of Switzerland in Abu Dhabi if you live in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
-Please apply at the Consulate General of Switzerland in Dubai, if you live in the Emirates of Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Qwain, Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah.
1.General Information:
Foreigners who do not wish to engage in a gainful activity (work) and do not intend to study in Switzerland may stay for a period of up to three months without a residence permit.
Visitors, who travel to Switzerland on a regular basis, but stay for less than a 3-month period each time, must apply for a permit if their total stay exceeds 6 months within a 12-month period.
2.Visa form:
Complete the visa form online, print and bring it with you together with all other requirements. The forms are provided in different languages, but please note that the form has to be filled out using the Roman alphabet. No Arabic, Chinese, Russian etc. will be accepted.

3.Visa fees:
The visa fees must be paid when you apply. If the visa is denied or you decide to withdraw the application, a non-refundable processing fee of AED 170.00 will be retained from your payment.
Fee for adults and children:
i-Validity of use from 1 day up to 12 months: AED 170
ii-Validity of use between 12 and 24 months: AED 340
iii-Validity of use between 24 and 36 months: AED 510
To be paid in cash (personal checks and credit cards are not accepted).
4.Postage:
If your application must be submitted to the competent authorities in Switzerland for a decision (work, study or residence visa), an additional postage fee of AED 15 will be charged.
5.Responsibility of the Visa Officer:
Please note that while we believe the given information is correct and up-to-date, the Swiss Embassy or the Swiss Consulate General is not legally responsible in the event of errors, omissions or obsolescence.
No claim is possible for cancelled reservations.
Only the immigration officers or the Swiss Federal or Cantonal authorities are competent to ultimately accept or deny visa applications.
The operators (such as airlines and travel agencies) must use appropriate means to inform their customers of potential travel requirement issues before making any nonrefundable reservations.
Extract from the Ordinance on Entry and Registering of Aliens:
Declaration of guarantee:
1. The authorities delivering permits in charge may demand a declaration of guarantee, signed by a financially sound natural or legal person in Switzerland, as a means of control over the circumstances of sojourn of a foreigner.
2. Guarantee may be declared by:
a. Swiss nationals;
b. Foreign nationals holding a permit of sojourn or a permit of residence.
Visa application:
1. A foreign national is required to submit a visa application on the specified application form to the Swiss Foreign Mission covering his or her place of residence. The Swiss Federal Office of Migration determines any exceptions.
2. The visa application must be accompanied by the travel document, as well as further documents, if so required, which clearly indicate purpose and circumstances of the intended stay or the intended transit.
3. Foreign nationals are required to fulfill the following conditions, in addition to the entry regulations according to article 1 OEArr, for a transit visa:
a. Produce travel documents and visa which entitle the bearer to transit and entry to the country of destination;
b. Produce proof for the airport transit by means of an air ticket valid for their actual destination.
Legal rights:
1. If a visa is refused or cancelled, the Federal Office for Migration issues a decision, which is subject to a fee, on request of the applicant.
2. A request will be processed only after payment has been made in advance.
