altThere are now nearly 10 million inhabitants in Ho Chi Minh City with a population that is growing rapidly at a rate of 200 thousand per year. About 90% of the population is Vietnamese and 8% of the population is Chinese, a large number of whom live in the district of Cholon, the largest Chinatown of Vietnam.

Most residents of Vietnam practice Buddhism or ancestor worship and about 15% are either Roman Catholic or Protestant. Other religious groups practicing Islam and Hinduism are found in smaller numbers.

The Vietnamese are very spiritual and take their festivities very seriously. Festivals and events are held in high esteem all year round and the Vietnamese have a very diverse culture that they display with immense pride.
