Central Library

Library

altAddress: opposite Hasht Behisht garden complex, Hasht Behisht Street.
A fascinating piece of modernism fused with traditional color and construction, the very building of the Central Library is a refreshing break from all the typical Safavid style monuments around the city.

Inaugurated in 2001, the Library contains semi-opaque, grilled lattice screens to visually divide the exterior and interior spaces, while maintaining the integrity of each individual space. Three of the library’s five stories are located underground, so that the height does not conflict with the surrounding historic profile of the area.

The staff is polite and multilingual, and the collection contains English, Persian, and French books on every topic imaginable.

Rather affordable internet is available at the library – buy hours at the reception before proceeding to the computer lab.
