General Visa Information
A valid passport or other identification document is required by foreign nationals in order to enter
Turkey. There are two types of visas:
1. Entry visa (single entry, multiple entry and entry with special annotations)
2. Transit visa (single and double transit)
The single entry visa is valid for one year and depending on the nationality and passport type, the
traveler can stay in Turkey for up to three months. Turkey can only be visited one time. Holders of
the multiple entry visa can make multiple visits to Turkey for up to five years. Depending on the
nationality and passport type, the stay can be between one to three months each time Turkey is
entered. The transit visa is valid for up to three months and allows the person to travel to another
country transiting through Turkey. If the connecting flight to the third country does not require an
overnight stay in Turkey, then no visa is necessary. The passengers of cruise ships are allowed
to enter and stay overnight in the port cities of Turkey with permission from the local border police
authorities. These passengers are not required to obtain an entry visa to Turkey.
UAE Specific
Holders of a valid official or a valid ordinary UAE passport can enter Turkey without obtaining a
visa and stay up to 3 months. UAE visitors are given a visa sticker for 3 months at the border
gates. If the person applies from the UAE and is of another nationality, then he should also
submit his valid residence permit or any document that proves that he is staying legally in the
UAE. Depending on the nationality of the applicant, the time it takes to get a visa can be a
minimum of 1 day. However some applications may go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara
which could take far longer.
