What to do with Children in Tow
Johannesburg is a great place for kids! The Joburg Zoo is sure to make them gape in wonder at the hordes of animals there, or perhaps the Zoo Lake would be more to their liking. The Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens are a great place to have fun while learning about the various forms of plant life found there. The Montecasino Bird Gardens are also great to tell kids about the hundreds of species of birds in the city.
Some kids prefer to touch and hold animals so why not take them to one of the several petting zoos in the city, such as the Lifestyle Family Garden Centre at the corner of Beyers Naude and Ysterhout Drive in Randpark Ridge (Phone: +27 (0)11 792-5616) or to Drake’s Party Farmyard at 30 Beacon Avenue, Linbro Park (Phone: +27 (0)11 608-2703)?
There’s a great theme park at the Gold Reef City and for a more artistic fare, try the Color Cafe at Hyde Square in Hyde Park (Phone: +27 (0)11 341-0734).
Kids need to burn off excess energy and the Adventure Zone at the Norwood Shopping Centre, Corner 6th and Grant Avenues (Phone: +27 (0)11 483-3833) is just the place for that! It is filled with jumping castles and monkey bars and other stuff that is sure to help the kids burn off that excess energy.
Picture Ice Skating at the Northgate Ice Arena in the Northgate Shopping Centre, Olievenhout and Northumberland Avenues, Northriding (Phone: +27 (0)11 794-8706) with the family as a great way to spend some quality family time.
Johannesburg is a great place to be if you’re a kid and these are just a few of the attractions for our younger tourists.
