altEven though Kuwait is a fast developing country with all the modern amenities available for locals as well as tourists, it is important to take a few precautions while visiting the place. Kuwait is generally a very safe country, but one needs to be cautious when exploring the metropolitan areas late at night. It is advisable to do so only if absolutely necessary and in groups or more than two people.
There is no need to be too concerned when using public transport, as most of them are licensed and extremely reliable. However, tourists should check that the registration number and license is made visible before boarding any mode of transport, and to take down any contact details of the company. If you want to rent your own vehicle and drive by yourself, you need to make sure that all insurance and international permit work is handled before hand according to government regulations. Also, the roads in the cities are extremely busy and congested during peak hours and there may be plenty of rash drivers on the road, and so it is not recommended for unfamiliar drivers.
Kuwait is largely regarded as a safe country for tourists, but because of past political disturbances it is advisable to keep a distance from public gatherings or demonstrations. It is always safe to stick to tourists designated areas.
Being a Muslim country, Kuwait does not tolerate elaborate public displays of affection, and men and women should adhere to local customs and dress codes by keeping themselves modest, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. Also, the use of alcohol is strictly forbidden.
