The Lord Mayor of London, aboard his gilded carriage, becomes part of a procession through the monumental and financial nucleus of London city. Originaly meant as a mark of allegience to the Monarch, this event through the years, has become popular as a show of mass appeal. A stately procession of the calvacade which winds its way from Guildhall to the Royal Courts of Justice before returning by way of Victoria embankment is eagerly watched by large crowds of enthusiastic Londoners. Evening sees the sky ablaze in a massive burst of fireworks which are let off from barges on the River Thames, moored between Waterloo and Blackfriars Bridge.
