The Boat Race is one of the great events in London and is eagerly watched by thousands as they throng the banks of the river Thames creating a festive spirit as they cheer the participants. To qualify as a crew member, one has to be a student at either of the universities, Oxford or Cambridge. The selection for the team is done a few months prior to the race and the athletes selected have to undergo rigoros training for the event as well as juggle their studies with no compromise being given in that quarter by the authorities. The Cambridge University Boat Club is responsible for organizing, training and selecting the Cambridge crew for the Boat Race whereas the Oxford University Boat Club prepares the Oxford crew.
