Bank of England Museum
The Bank of England Museum tells the story of the Bank of England from its foundation in 1694 to its role today as the United Kingdom’s central bank.
At the museum, besides the historical artefacts that show the timeline of the bank’s foundation and architectural development, you will also find the Banknote Gallery that shows the development of English bank notes from handwritten in the 17th century to state of the art printed ones today. If you are interested in banking and finance, the Bank of England Museum is a must visit. Be sure to pick up some souvenirs at the Museum Shop before you leave, some of the items they sell can’t be found anywhere else.
