Brick Lane
Brick Lane in East London was once associated with slums and the scene of the crime for the Jack the Ripper murders. The area today is now popular with London’s edgy artistic crowd and features art galleries, restaurants, markets and festivals throughout the year.
Up and coming designers often set up shop selling clothes, handbags and jewellery so you may even find something on the streets that in a few years might become a designer label.
Brick Lane is a hub for London’s Bangladeshi community, so you will find many authentic curry restaurants in the area – between the art galleries, hip lounges and boutiques. It is also the place where you will find many Balti restaurants – many of them serve halal food but it is best to enquire from the owner if the food served is halal.
