Covent Garden
The Piazza at Covent Garden used to be ideal for spending time sipping coffee at one of the numerous cafes while enjoying a street performance or simply picking up some tidbits from the many craft stalls. Today, it is transforming into a hip and unique shopping destination.
There are a large number of boutique shops in Covent Garden. And they are not all fuddy duddy old fashioned stores. You can find an Apple store at Covent Garden. There is also Benjamin Pollock’s Toy Shop that was established in the 1880s and sells theatrical toys and cut outs. And then there is Y-3 the new Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto’s elegant and chic version of Adidas sportswear that sells £80 T-shirts and £180 sneakers.
Covent Garden is also home to Chanel and Dior beauty stores as well as a Disney Store and Eric Snook Toyshop which is a place to get weird and wacky toys. You can drink “propah” English tea at Whittard or if you are a comic book fan you can go to the Tintin Shop and pick up comics, T-shirts and mugs with pictures of Tintin.
This is a great place to discover the old and the new in one place. Street performers and elegant boutiques compete for the attention of the shopper.
