Theemuge (Former Presidential Palace)
Theemuge is the site of the Supreme Court of the Maldives as well as the former official residence of the President of the Maldives.
The building was designed by a Malaysian architect and was named after some of the first Muslim rulers of the Maldives, who reigned during the late Lunar Dynasty (1411 to 1388).
In 1998 it became the official residence of the president and served as such until 2009 when President Mohamed Nasheed announced it would become the National Centre for Linguistic and Historic Research, the National Art Gallery and the National Library.
