The city is mostly inhabited by Arabs with some Asian and African minorities in the mix also. Modesty in dress (especially for women), abstention from alcohol, and no nightclubs, movie theaters or similar entertainment exist in this city, so residents tend to be quite religious. Saudi Arabia is one of the richest countries in the world, with several deluxe five-star hotels with luxurious amenities offered to visitors. Despite the luxurious environment, Islamic laws are still upheld above Western values. This can be seen in the gyms and fitness centers that cater to men only.
