Nothing says Canada like hockey, the country’s national sport. If you are in town during the NHL (National Hockey League) season, which runs from October through April you’d be remiss not to watch a game. The Montreal Canadiens are one of the league’s six charter members. It may be difficult to get a ticket, but there’s nothing like the atmosphere and intensity of a playoff hockey game. If you’re in town from late April to early June and the Canadiens are still in it, seriously consider seeing a game, though it can be pricey.
The Canadiens play their games in the Bell Centre. Completed in 1996, there isn’t much to separate it from other indoor arenas. Nontheless, it serves its purpose and is a fine place to catch a game. At present, the Canadiens are the only permanent tenant, but the arena regularly plays host to other sporting events and concerts.
The surrounding neighborhood is filled with restaurants and bars, and the arena is connected to both the Underground City and the Metro.
