Bastille Day is the celebration of the storming of the French prison on 14th July, 1789 marking the death of the monarch and the birth of the new France. Festivities in the city reach their peak with a parade on the Champs Elysées, street fairs and pageants, and fireworks in Montmartre. Paris on this day is truly a sight to behold!
