Visa Information
There are two types of visas offered by the Italian government:
For Schengen Visas ( C Type)
Once received by the IVAC, applications will be sent to the Consular Agency of Italy in Dubai the next working day and the applicant will be given an appointment for a personal interview ( if applicable) with the Consular Agency of Italy. Once the assessment is completed by the Consular Agency of Italy, the decision together with the passport & the other relevant documents will be available for collection from the IVAC.
For Long Term Visas (D Type)
Once received by the IVAC, applications will be sent to the Consular Agency of Italy in Dubai the next working day and the applicant will be given an appointment to visit the Consular Agency of Italy in order to collect the decision together with the passport and the other relevant documents.
UAE Specific
The consular agency of Italy in Dubai has outsourced the visa handling to a partner; VFS Global, which makes the complex visa application process easier for the residents of Dubai and the Northern Emirates. VFS collects the required documentation according to the actual visa regulations and forwards it to the Consular Agency for evaluation.
Thus all applicants applying for Schengen (Tourist, Business, and Transit etc) or long term visas are advised to visit the VFS Italy application centre in Dubai to submit their application and also to schedule an interview at the Consular Agency.
VFS collects the documentation required by the actual visa regulations and charges AED 110/- (per application) which is payable in cash. It then transmits it to the Consular Agency, who is solely responsible for its evaluation.The processing time for assessment of a visa at the Consular agency of Italy is 10 days or more approximately so it is advisable to check the status of the application only after the average processing time. Please note that the Consular Agency of Italy, Dubai issues visas only for residents in its territory of operation – Emirates of Dubai, Sharjah, Ras – Al- Khaimah, Fujairah, Ajman & Umm – Al – Quwain.
