Park

This park is located 26 kilometers from the city centre and has four venues stretched over 1 sq-km; there is a café and picnic facilities on the grounds. The biggest venue here is the Arabian Wildlife Centre (531 1999) which incorporates a zoo and a breeding centre. There is an indoor aviary that houses flamingoes, houbara bustards and Indian rollers while the outdoor enclosures have baboons, striped hyenas, Arabian wolves and Arabian leopards. There is also a restaurant that overlooks an open-range area with flamingoes, Nubian ibex, ostriches and sand gazelles just to name a few. There is also a Children’s Farm (see What to do with Children in tow).

Another of the venues is the Natural History Museum (531 1411) which has exhibits detailing the region’s ecosystem, dating back to millions of years, with fossils, dinosaurs and desert plants. It is a great introduction to the new Botanical Museum which goes deeper into the study of plant life. You can see inside a plant cell and explore how plants have played a role in human civilization.
Opening Times: Sun-Mon 9am-5:30pm, Fri 2-5:30pm, Sat 11am-5:30pm
Admission: Adult AED15, child free
