When to Go
Zurich has four distinct seasons and a fairly cool climate. Average high temperatures in the summer are in the low twenties, with only a couple days each year above 30C. Average highs in the winter are just above freezing (2C in January, the coldest month).
Rain and snow are common occurrences. Zurich receives more than 1,000 mm of rain annually. The wettest months are during the summer. Snow occurs regularly throughout the winter, though heavy snowstorms are rare. Weather can change rapidly during the spring and autumn, being sunny and pleasant one minute and cold and rainy the next.
The best time to visit depends on your preferences. Winter’s are cold but the snow makes everything more beautiful. Some of the world’s best ski resorts are just a short drive away. The best time to visit is from December through February. Summer days are long and often pleasant, though there is no guarantee of sunshine. The best time to visit is from June through August.
