There are a whole variety of tours to experience in Budapest.

A bus tour is usually good if you are hard pressed for time in the city. Most tours will incorporate Parliament, along Andrassy ut, across the Varhegy and up to Gellert-hegy for some photo opportunities. One of the most prominent bus tour operators is ibusz which has a Circle Sight-Seeing tour which operates from April-October between 10.30 and 17.30 every half-an-hour
and November-March at 10.30, 11.00, 11.30, 12.30, 13.30 and has some discount offers; check the website for more information on prices but they are valid for 24hrs.

For walking tours, one of the best guides to take is Absolute Tours. The Absolute Walk goes for 3.5hrs, covering all the major sites such as Buda Castle, Inner Pest and City Park. At the time of writing, Absolute Walks was offering a special price for adults on this walk for 2010: 2000Ft instead of the usual 4500Ft. The same office also handles bike tours.

If you’re looking for a more special tour experience then you can’t go past a boat tour through the city on the Danube River. There are many day tours but go for the Danube Legend Evening Sightseeing tour for a truly spectacular experience. The duration of this tour is one hour but you won’t notice the time as you soak up the brilliantly lit city at night. As you drift past the famous buildings and monuments you will be able to take a look at the inside with the help of TV screens. An audio narrative with famous figures of the Hungarian history, (kings and queens, poets and musicians) will talk about the legends of Budapest and its hidden treasures. The program ends with the Blue Danube waltz music during which drinks are offered: a glass of champagne and a choice of wine, beer or soft drink.
