Nowruz and Sizdar Bedar

The spring festival of ‘Rejuvenation’ starts on the first day of the lunar New Year and is celebrated for 13 days. This is the most important holiday in the Iranian culture and is usually preceded by ‘spring cleaning’. People buy new clothes and visit each other with gifts and food. The 13th day is Sizdar Bedah, traditionally celebrated outdoors with activities centered on nature. Family picnics, music and dancing are common.
