Unlike typical beaches, however, Maho Beach is better off for adrenaline junkies and airplane lovers—it’s located close to the Princess Juliana International Airport that has a short runway of 7,150-feet.
When aircrafts are due to touchdown, they have to get close to the beginning of the runway with minimal altitude—which results in planes flying over the beach, over the heads of beachgoers.
If you love plane-spotting, this beach would be a good holiday destination—restaurants are even equipped with daily arrival and departure times of various airlines.
One of the restaurants even broadcasts real-time radio transmissions between the pilots and the airport’s control tower.
