Early Thursday morning, on June 11, 2015, a jubilant team Abu Dhabi were rejoicing in Lorient, France, on winning third place in the penultimate leg of the gruelling 38,739 nautical miles long race which will end on June 27 2015 in Gothenburg, Sweden, the home of Volvo the title sponsors of the race that started on October 4 2014 in Alicante, Spain. Why was Abu Dhabi rejoicing when the first place for this leg of the race which started in Lisbon was won by the first all women's team SCA?

Reaching the podium albeit in third place has given the Abu Dhabi Ocean Race team an invincible lead of 8 points which should take them to the winning position even if they come last in the final leg - barring penalties.
