Abu Dhabi Will Host International Triathlon In 2010

The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority announced it will host a one day, $250,000 (Dh918,250) Abu Dhabi International Triathlon on March 13th next year. The announcement comes just after the end of the Formula 1 Grand Prix event on Yas Island, which saw hotel occupancy reach 100 percent in the capital. The Triathlon will cover 220 kilometers around the capital and nearby island, and will pass through important landmarks like the Marina F1 Circuit on Yas Island Sadiyat Island, Zayed Grand Mosque, and Emirates Palace. Nearly 1,000 athletes from around the world, including 900 amateur residents, will swim, cycle, and run short and long distances.
