The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi, the city’s beachfront address, has reported a threefold increase in number of discerning guests indulging in the leisurely activity of afternoon tea, which includes an assortment of sweet and savory foods, since its opening in December 2011.
“Afternoon tea is part of our legacy, and one of the brand rituals that are celebrated with much grandeur at every St. Regis around the world. It dates back to Lady Astor, the founder of the original St. Regis New York,” said Hotel Manager Max Wiegerinck. “We are delighted that our afternoon tea at The Drawing Room, The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort‘s lobby lounge, continues to gain recognition, measured in both awards and an increase in the number of daily guests.”
During the Gilded Age in New York, Lady Caroline Astor would host intimate gatherings with an indulgent selection of sweet and savory treats, adopting the tradition as her own. Today, the time-honored Tea Ritual called Time for Tea comes alive every afternoon at St. Regis hotels across the globe.
At The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi the Tea Ritual is available between 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm where guests can savor an assortment of finger sandwiches, scones and other pastries served with beverages of choice, including exclusive tea blends such as the St. Regis Arabian Tea Blend and Iridium Spa Tea Blend.
The afternoon tea at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort was recently awarded the best in Abu Dhabi at the Dilmah Real High Tea Challenge. In 2012, it received the accolade of Highly Commended Afternoon Tea at the Time Out Abu Dhabi Awards.
The St. Regis Time for Tea is priced at AED 110 per person and AED 180 per person for the sparkling option. All prices are subject to 10% service charge and 6% tourism fee. For more details or to reserve, guests can contact +9712 498 8008
