The Tourism Authority of Thailand's Governor, Suraphon Svetasreni, commented on Bangkok’s receiving the award, “Our research shows that tourists love Bangkok because of the city’s great value for money and the huge variety of attractions for people of all ages and interests. Whether it is entertainment, delicious food, the high life, charming culture, or the friendly hospitality of its residents, Bangkok truly has something for everyone. In addition to shopping malls, department stores and local markets, Bangkok is also the centre of Thai culture. It is a truly cosmopolitan city that is a perfect mixture of the old and the new."
