British Airways now has three A380s and four 787s. Thanks to the arrival of the new aircraft into the fleet, the airline is able to confirm that the A380 will next begin services to Washington from September 1, 2014. The aircraft is already flying to Los Angeles and Hong Kong and will start services to Johannesburg in February 2014. The 787s will next launch on services to Hyderabad from March 30, Chengdu from May 5, Philadelphia from June 5 and Calgary from July 5, 2014.
In other good news for Chengdu (a destination British Airways only launched services to in September 2013) the airline will increase the number of flights to the city from three to five a week (also from May 5).
From May 6, Tokyo Haneda will move from five-a-week to daily flights. The Haneda flights will also be re-timed to a more convenient 8.50am departure from Haneda (currently 6.35am). Mexico City will also benefit from an increase from five to six services a week from April 27.
Cape Town will gain an extra three Boeing 777-200ER flights a week through South Africa’s cooler winter season (the Northern Hemisphere’s summer) taking it from a daily service to 10 flights a week and accommodating an additional 219 customers in four cabins.
Richard Tams, British Airways’ head of UK&I sales said: “Thanks to the arrival of the new aircraft - the centrepiece of our £5bn investment in improvements for our customers - we’re delivering on our promise to introduce new destinations and an even better schedule. “We’re receiving great customer feedback on our new aircraft so we’re delighted to be able to roll them out across more of our network and hope our customers enjoy them on these important Indian, Chinese and American routes. More destinations will follow as we will receive 12 A380s and 24 787s over the next three years. “We’re also pleased to be able to increase services to the likes of Chengdu, Haneda, Mexico City and Cape Town where there is significant demand and we know regular direct flights are important to our customers.”
These flights will all be available for sale from today. Customers wishing to book should go to British Airways' website.
