British Airways upgrades aircraft serving Gulf
Published by Irhal
British Airways have upgraded 18 of their 46 Boeing 777-200 aircraft fleet with more comfortable seating and latest entertainment systems. These aircraft frequently serve the GCC. Paolo De Renzis, Area Commercial Manager Middle East & Central Asia, said: “Our GCC customers are very important to us and we are pleased that they will be able to enjoy the very best travel experience British Airways has to offer.”…

The aircraft refit has been done in the British Airways' Cardiff maintenance base where it takes a month to replace old seats and interiors with the latest cabin equipment. More than 13 kilometers of wires were removed and replaced by fibre optic cables which support the new Thales entertainment system with high resolution widescreen displays and more than 700 hours of TV, movies and music.
“The refurbishment of our aircraft is another one of our investments to improve the passenger experience, which is at the centre of everything we do. This modern and ambitious refit is part of our £5 billion investment plan, and will allow customers flying on our Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Muscat, Manama, and Doha routes to see smarter cabins and new technologies,” added Paolo De Renzis.
Tech savvy consumers who were earlier dissuaded by the lack of the latest entertainment systems on board British Airways flights from the GCC to London will now find the airline ahead of the curve with the latest Thales inflight entertainment and communication system.
