A new report by Caterglobal.com showed that 75% of the twenty one per cent of Middle Eastern and North African hotel staff find work within the same industry. The report surveyed over 3,500 hospitality professionals in the region and it showed hotels are streamlining costs to hedge against expected turbulence caused by increasing job cuts. Caterglobal notes drastic redundancies now may help hotels deliver to stakeholders in the near term but there will be long term negative effects when new staff have again to be recruited and trained as market conditions improve. In addition, while new projects have been cut there are still 89,000 new hotel rooms to come online by 2011 in the Gulf region.
