Dubai Duty Free has emerged as the world’s single biggest air retail operation in 2008, based on sales data released by independent industry experts Generation Research. Chairman of Dubai Airports Sheikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum said it is a great achievement to be placed at the top of the list of airport retailers, noting “For the past several years Dubai Duty Free has been listed among the top three airport retailers in the world in terms of sales. Sheikh Al Maktoum is also President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group. Last year Dubai Duty Free celebrated its 25th anniversary and this year the airport opened Emirates Terminal 3. The new terminal doubles its retail operation to 15,000 square meters.
