Etihad amenity kit bag and bedding win awards
Published by Irhal
Airlines like to pamper their front of the bus passengers with little gifts. A small amenity kit with a toothbrush, tooth paste, cologne and comb is usually what most airlines give. But Etihad went a step further. Being the National Airline of the UAE, they took upon themselves to promote Emirati culture by introducing an amenity bag which features patterns of Sadou, a colourful, intricate and centuries-old Abu…

The new "Ethically Sustainable Amenity Kits" are the result of Etihad Airways’ partnership with Sougha, a social enterprise initiative launched by the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, which aims to preserve Emirati traditions and promote local artisans. The amenity kits are being offered in Diamond First, Pearl Business and Coral Economy cabins.

And unknown to most of us travelers, there is an annual award given to the airline that comes up with the best amenity kit. And Etihad just won the Travelplus award in Hamburg for not only the best amenity kit but also for their multi-layered mattresses, made from extracts of the Hevea tree, and large down feather duvets and pillows. The sustainably sourced sleep products are, however, only for those who fly in Diamond First class. Such are the perks of the privileged!
