Vladimir Fortov, the Head of the Russian Academy of Science, said that the project is 'very ambitious and expensive’, but that if the President approves, ‘It will solve many problems in the development of the vast region.’ The project, if successful, would create 10 to 15 new industries, new cities and a huge number of new jobs, as well as help develop the Far Eastern cities.
The project is predicted to cost trillions of dollars, but Yakunin promises that the economic returns would do more than just overcome these investments.
The superhighway from Britain to America would approximately be 12,400 miles, around 3,000 miles longer than the current longest continuous road in the world - Highway 1 found in Australia, running around the entire country at 9,000 miles.
