Easynest.com is a new San Francisco based website which wants to encourage solo passengers to share their hotel room with a stranger to subsidize the cost of the room. Most of the better hotels have two beds in their rooms but charge the full price even when there is one person using the room. By teaming up strangers the website aims to encourage single travelers to get better value for their money by upgrading to a fancier hotel and also benefit from the company of a new friend.
Travelers need to upload their profiles on the site and look for people going to the same city. The "host" will need to agree to take on the guest as his/her companion. One can imagine people padding up their profiles to get accepted more often.
In an age when our personal profiles are already in the public domain, this seems like a great way to make friends and save money while traveling. We certainly hope that the site incorporates the travelers snoring habits - wouldn't be much fun if the stranger in the bed next to you sounds like a railroad train.
