On August 1 2014, the Kempinski group took over management control of the Hotel Fleuve Congo and rebranded it as a Kempinski. The hotel is ideal for business travellers and groups looking for five-star luxury. The Kempinski Hotel Fleuve Congo is named after Africa’s largest river. The hotel is located near its banks in the heart of the embassy district in the Commune of Gombe. The hotel’s 22 floors offer elevated views over the Congo River, and the capital cities of Kinshasa and neighbouring Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, which sit on opposite sides of the river.
If you are the adventurous type then you can try snacking on insects when you are in Kinshasa. Many Kinshasans prefer eating caterpillar and weevil larvae and these are sold in cafes acrosss the city. At the Gambela market in Kinshasa caterpillars can be found living, dried or boiled. And you can even try some termite snacks.
Don't worry meat lovers you can have your chicken and beef at the Kempinski and avoid the crunchy insects and bugs.
