Multi-currency prepaid Mastercard
Published by Irhal
The days of the traveller's cheque are gone. Credit and debit cards are now the norm. But did you know that your bank usually charges a premium of as much as 3% every time you use your credit card abroad. And that does not include the profit they make by converting your foreign currency shopping at an exchange rate that you know is not in your favour. Gocash by UAE Exchange in association with Mastercard is your…

This new prepaid debit card can be topped up with up to six different currencies and you pay the exchange rate of the date when you loaded the card. If you plan to travel to Europe you can load the card with Euros and shop with ease. No exchange rate surcharges.
You can shop at millions of outlets that accept Mastercard and can also withdraw money from ATMs around the world. You get free email and SMS alerts every time your card is used and you can check the balance online.
If your travel takes you to multiple destinations you can log in online and convert your balance to a different currency. The Mastercard interbank conversion rates will apply. You save on the exorbitant exchange rate markups of your regualr credit card but you still end up paying a cross currency conversion fee of 3%. Not ideal for multi-currency travelers!
If you are traveling to one country, this is a great way to avoid credit card surcharges and retain the convenience and safety of not carrying cash. Currently Gocash is available at UAE Exchange branches across the UAE.
