The star ratings of some hotels in Abu Dhabi will be downgraded this summer when a strict new classification system comes into effect. Eighteen months ago, the ADTA issued hotels a manual detailing the new classification system and the stringent new requirements. In January, the ADTA issued ratings following inspections, and hotels that were downgraded were given six months to make changes needed to recover their status. Director of tourism standards at the ADTA said some hotels have been downgraded, although he did not say how many or which hotels.
