Omani racing talent, Ahmad Al Harthy, who is sponsored by Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, has completed another outstanding weekend’s racing at the Oulton Park Island Circuit in Cheshire. Ahmad secured second place Pro-Am 1 finishes in the 2011 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship on both Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June, bringing his superb tally of podium placings to six so far this…

Ahmad Al Harthy said: “I’m very pleased with what we’ve achieved this weekend. Winning two podiums in this race and six overall in this season is fantastic and just within our objectives. I’m delighted with my own performance too this weekend. We’ve been quick in both the dry and the wet, and having that consistency is very important. Thank you to the Oman Air Racing Team for yet another great job and to my sponsors for their wonderful support.”
Oman Air’s Chief Officer Corporate Affairs, Philippe Georgiou, says: “We would like to congratulate Ahmad on yet another great result this weekend, in which he has displayed a superb performance and provided a terrific role model for other young Omanis. “Oman Air has been proud to sponsor him for a second year. As an airline, we focus on providing the highest levels of quality and innovation in all we do, and Ahmad embodies those values superbly. “We are pleased that he has been able to help raise awareness of the Oman Air brand across the UK and we wish him all the very best for the rest of the season.”
Ahmad Al Harthy now stands in third place in the Pro-Am 1 class of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship.
Next on the calendar for Ahmad is by far the biggest challenge of his motor racing career to date, a visit to the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany for round nine of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship on Saturday, 25th June.
As well as forming part of the 2011 season, the event will bring together around 200 of the world’s top Porsche Carrera Cup competitors to battle it out for the inaugural ‘Porsche Carrera World Cup’ over six laps of the daunting 13-mile circuit.
