Qatar Will Get Eight New Hotels In 2010

Qatar will significantly increase its hotel room offering in 2010 as it works towards becoming a major tourism destination. Chairman of the Qatar Tourism Authority, Ahmed Abdullah Al Noami, said Qatar is currently developing a strong tourism infrastructure and expects the tourism sector will contribute substantially to the country’s GDP within four or five years. Al Noaimi said eight new hotels will be built in Qatar this year, adding 2,500 new rooms and bringing the total number of rooms in Qatar to 10,000. Noami said the QTA will start a European tour by the end of February to promote the country in cities like Madrid, Munich, Milan, and Paris.
