The order for five Airbus A330 Freighters and eight options was announced earlier.
Eric Schulz, Rolls-Royce, president, civil large engines, said: “We look forward to further developing our relationship with a valued customer and welcome Qatar Airways’ continued confidence in our Trent technology and TotalCare service and support.”
The Trent 700, the only engine specifically designed for the A330, is the market leader on the aircraft with a 70 per cent of new orders over the last four years.
Qatar Airways chief executive, Akbar Al Baker, said: “We are pleased to select the Trent 700 engine, which has provided excellent performance on our existing Airbus A330 Freighter, along with a support package that maximises aircraft reliability and efficiency.”
The Trent 700 is also the most popular Rolls-Royce engine type currently in service on wide-body aircraft, powering more than 530 A330 aircraft with 58 operators.
More than 1,400 engines are either in service or on order.
